WelcomeOpen

Summer Solstice is a transcendent experience of being together and supporting each other in a spiritual practice, a Sadhana. This is an opportunity to come together in community and support each other to live consciously, to be who we are, and live our truth.

The Solstice experience gives us a chance to change our patterns and test ourselves. As we evolve as a community, how can we nurture one another and find a way to bring forward the most universal parts of this path: Seva, giving, serving, and practicing together to strengthen and support one another in the tests of this world.

Be present, take your time, have good conversations over yogi tea, meditate and do yoga, and most importantly, be yourself as we co-create this 2026 Summer Solstice experience.

Stuff You Need to KnowOpen

Getting around

For help finding your way around camp, please refer to the map and feel free to visit Hospitality for directions. You can ask for help with anything from people wearing a "GUIDE" sticker on their badge.

Taking Care of Yourself

Days at Summer Solstice can be a whirlwind of spiritual and physical exertion. Be selective and pace yourself; don't try to do everything. Please remember to drink plenty of water and electrolytes, eat meals, and take a nap when you need to — there is a nap shelter in a cool nap building, and you can always nap in the back of the Tantric Shelter even if there is a class going on.

Watch out for Dehydration

We can’t stress enough the importance of drinking water to prevent dehydration in this high desert climate. It is best to drink regularly throughout the day, and more than you are used to. Equally important is to make sure you get plenty of electrolytes so you don’t wash out important minerals in your body. Always have your water bottle handy, as dehydration can happen quickly. Drink a small amount of our electrolyte beverage each day, will be electrolyte powder, recommend have wide mouthed drinking vessels., and eat some watermelon each day. Signs of dehydration include headaches, paleness, dizziness, disorientation, and physical weakness. If you exhibit any of these signs, please go to First Aid. The water at Ram Das Puri is pure and safe for drinking — however, the water in the plastic sinks by the Porta Toilets is for hand-washing only; do not fill up your water bottles there!

Name Badges and Wristbands

Each person receives a name badge and wristband when they check in at Registration. Please wear these at all times while in camp. You may be asked to show both during camp by Camp Staff and go retrieve it if you don’t have it on your person.

Climate

Ram Das Puri is an environment of extraordinary natural beauty, but also one that can be challenging. The altitude is about 7,000 feet (2,200 meters) above sea level. Daytime temperatures can reach into the 90s ºF (about 35 ºC) and at night can drop to the 40s ºF (about 15 ºC). While the climate is very dry, sudden rainstorms do happen. Because of these factors, wearing layers of clothing is a wise choice. We recommend you use skin care lotions as well as sunscreen.

Bringing Solstice HomeOpen

You may experience a period of readjustment after Solstice. Going through renewal and growth can bring up emotional, mental and physical challenges. It helps to be conscious regarding diet and sleep habits and to keep up a regular sadhana.

Also, please remember it is not necessary to go through this process by yourself. Reach out to others and share the integration experience. Here are some ideas to consider when you return home:

  • Get together with other Kundalini Yogis to meditate, share photos, food, Yogi Tea, stories and your process.
  • Organize a Solstice party in your community at the end of the 40 days after Solstice.
  • Share your experience and growth with friends, family members and others.
  • Join the 3HO Facebook page: https://www.facebook.com/3HOInternational

In the event of an emergency, air horns will sound and all attendees are requested to move to the assembly area—most likely the Tantric Shelter. Further instructions will be given at that time. All staff, service area managers, and service exchange participants have been briefed on role changes for their teams in the event of an evacuation or shelter-in-place order.

Camp Life

Meals, showers, toilets, bazaar, lost & found, leaving camp and security.

Showers, Toilets, Meals & ScentsOpen

Tenting Areas

Camping is an integral part of the Solstice experience to return to the earth and living in nature. Ram Das Puri has three designated tenting areas for this event: Water Tower is good for families and the closest walk to the center of camp. There is a designated area for seniors camping near the Tantric Shelter. Tantric Hill is the most convenient area for attending morning Sadhana. It is also the farthest away from the camp generators, so it is generally quiet at night.

Showers and Toilets

Simple shower facilities are located close to each of the three tenting areas, and flush toilets are found next to the Tantric Shelter. Porta Toilets are found in the tenting areas as well as throughout Ram Das Puri. Please conserve water by choosing the Porta Toilets.

Meals

All meals are served in the Dining Shelter, except for Sunday Langar and White Tantric® days, which are served in langar lines in the Tantric Shelter. Any schedule changes are announced during breakfast and dinner.

Please Refrain from Using Scented Products

Many people are sensitive to strong scents. Please refrain from wearing or using strong scented oils and perfumes. It also helps keep the bugs away.

Leaving Camp

Please pack up on Friday night or Saturday morning and depart before 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, June 27th. There will not be a luggage service this year, so please plan ahead for support if you have accessibility needs. For people taking shuttles to the airport, the shuttles will pick you and your luggage up at the parking lot close to the Dining Hall. Because many people will be leaving the site at the same time, the process of exiting may take longer than expected.

Security at SolsticeOpen

Security at Solstice

We strive to provide a safe and secure environment at Ram Das Puri, but we cannot be responsible for valuables and personal belongings. We advise that you do not leave valuables in your tent; keep them with you at all times. 3HO is not responsible for the loss or theft of any personal items during your stay at Summer Solstice.

Eco-3HOOpen

Waste Management and You!

We rely on you to support Mother Earth by incorporating green consciousness into daily life. Help contribute to a greener Solstice by:

  • Minimize the amount of trash that you create.
  • Use the recycling and food waste containers around camp.
  • Use only biodegradable soaps and shampoos.
  • Do not use aerosol sprays.

Pack It In, Pack It Out

Trash bags are provided at Hospitality for you to take excess trash and recycling. Did you know that Burning Man, the largest Leave No Trace event in the world, has ZERO trash cans? Let's move in the same direction.

Compost FOOD WASTE ONLY!

Receptacles are located where we eat, in the Dining Shelter. Please scrape food only into the receptacles — NO ORANGE PEELS OR WATERMELON RINDS! Do not dispose of compostable materials in the food waste containers. Put non-food compostable items in the trash to break down naturally.

Recycling

New Mexico currently recycles #1–#7 plastics (except plastic bags), clean paper, corrugated cardboard, steel and tin cans, and milk and juice cartons. If you have something other than that, put it in the trash. Solstice is currently unable to recycle glass or batteries. Please take batteries and glass with you when you leave. You may put glass in the trash, but not batteries.

Trash

Waste receptacles for trash are located at porta-potties stations and shower areas as well as at the Dining / Bazaar and Tantric Shelters. Please use these areas to dispose of your trash, non-food compostable items and glass.

Thank you for keeping Ram Das Puri Clean and Green!

Community Agreements

The full Code of Conduct, cleaned for offline reading.

Code of ConductOpen
  • A Drug/Alcohol/Smoke-Free Camp: Summer Solstice is a drug-free, alcohol-free, and smoke-free camp. Keeping your consciousness clear and uplifted enhances the transformational experience of Solstice and this is an opportunity to help your body cleanse.
  • We serve a vegetarian diet; there are no meat or fish products allowed at camp.
  • While we share in the love for our animal friends, please do not bring your pets. We cannot accommodate them on site unless they are service dogs. As the owner of a service dog, you are responsible for your dog at all times. This includes keeping your dog leashed, cleaning up after them, and taking full responsibility for any injury your dog may cause to any person or other service dog on site. You must keep your dog with you at all times, never leaving them leashed, unattended, or in a car, even with the windows open. Your vigilance ensures the safety and comfort of everyone around, as well as the well-being of your service dog.
  • We ask that you “pack it in and pack it out” (if you brought it in, please take it with you when you leave). However, compost, recycle and landfill containers are provided to serve you. Please leave your environment cleaner than when you arrived.
  • Please turn off cell phones and all other personal electronics before participating in Morning Sadhana, Workshops and White Tantric Yoga®. Photography and filming are not permitted during White Tantric Yoga®. Flash photography is not permitted during Morning Sadhana.
  • No fires of any kind.
  • Criminal activity will not be tolerated. If you are suspected of criminal activity, you will be investigated by 3HO staff and local law enforcement. If you are found guilty of criminal activity, you may be prosecuted to the full extent of the law and restricted from attending future 3HO events.
  • All-Camp quiet hours are 10pm – 3:15am except in designated areas and with 3HO Administration approval. One of our top priorities is providing the opportunity for everyone to experience group Sadhana every morning in the Amrit Vela (the ambrosial hours between 3–7 am), so late night activities are limited. All music, evening activities, and the bazaar end by 9:30 pm, and lights out in the camp is at 10 pm.
  • No firearms or weapons are allowed on the premises, including Conceal Carry of handguns. Kirpans are allowed.
  • Modest clothing choices are encouraged to support a meditative practice. Revealing or transparent clothing are discouraged as this can be distracting for people in a meditative process. 3HO reserves the right to remove any participant not adhering to the camp Code of Conduct.
  • Please respect others’ boundaries and seek consent when looking to connect with others. This is an event for healing for many, and what each person needs for their healing is different. Asking for permission before seeking out a hug, emotional sharing or other intimate interaction shows your respect for the other person and makes the interaction that much more meaningful. Breaching of another’s personal boundaries is not acceptable at this event.
  • Any conduct deemed inappropriate by 3HO may be grounds for dismissal from camp.

Daily Rhythm

Wake-up call, hydrotherapy, Sadhana, meals, classes and evening programs.

Wake-Up Call & HydrotherapyOpen

Wake-Up Call

Each morning at 3:00 a.m. minstrels will wake you up with live music as they make their rounds through the tenting and cabin areas. You will be roused from sleep by loving voices and beautiful music to encourage you to attend Morning Sadhana.

Hydrotherapy

A cold water shower is a part of the yogic lifestyle you can experience at Solstice. Hydrotherapy builds resistance to colds, flu, and hay fever, strengthens nerves and makes your skin glow. It is renowned for its positive effects be cause it oxygenates organs, flushes capillaries, and relea ses toxins from tissues.

Directions
To take a cold shower, first massage yourself with almond oil to neutralize any toxins. Under the cold water, massage your body vigorously; step out of the water and continue to massage. Repeat this process three times or until the water no longer feels cold. Hydrotherapy is not recommended for pregnant or menstruating women or people who have high blood pressure. Please check with your doctor if you have questions or concerns regarding this.
Sadhana & GurdwaraOpen

Sadhana

Sadhana starts at 3:40 a.m. with Japji, a prayer that ba lances earth and ether energy while strengthening the connections between the mental and spiritual bodies. It is recited in Gurmukhi, with alternating male and female voi ces. Sadhana continues with a Kundalini Yoga set. The set begins by tuning in using the Adi Mantra: Ong Namo Guru Dev Namo. This mantra calls on the Universe, the Creati vity of God, and the Golden Chain to prevail through us, by invoking the Teacher within. Kundalini Yoga energizes the body, strengthens and balances the glands and other bo dily systems, and tunes up the nervous system in prepara tion for meditation. Following Kundalini Yoga, a sequence of seven meditations is practiced for a total of 62 minutes. See the Sadhana Mantras for the Aquarian Age section.

Gurdwara

Upon conclusion of the meditations, you are welcome to join us in the Gurdwara for Gurdwara service—an expe rience of sacred music and prayer. The service is a joyous mixture of Kirtan (devotional singing) and traditional Sikh prayers. Everyone is welcome to join in, sing, and medi tate together. See more information in the Sikh Dharma section. At the end of Gurdwara, we close our entire mor ning Sadhana practice with the Song of the Khalsa.

The Solstice Diet, Food of the YogisOpen

Breakfast

The Solstice Soup is a spicy or mild potato, celery, and onion soup, with bananas and oranges served on the side. We also offer oatmeal for children and pregnant or nursing women. Both the Soup and Golden Milk given after tantric days are excellent ways to ingest turmeric, which helps alleviate aches and pains from the long days of yoga and meditation. It kindles agni (digestive fire), purifies the blood and liver, soothes the respiratory system, clarifies the skin, and is a strong antimicrobial.

Lunch

Lunch consists of a hearty quinoa tabouli, hummus, pita and dolmas on non-tantric days, and Tantric Burgers on tantric days.

Dinner

Mung beans and rice served with carrots, beets, and hot sauce, an iceberg lettuce wedge and/or salad. This is one of the most revered meals in the Ayurvedic and Yogic traditions because of its ability to detoxify the body and kindle digestive fire. A diet of mung beans and rice provides a perfect balance of protein and complex carbohydrates that allows your body to detoxify while still feeling nourished and strong, and is easy to digest. Within just a couple of days on this diet the body becomes light, the stomach satisfied, and the mind crystal clear.

Solstice Hot Sauce

A spicy, tangy accompaniment made with lots of onions, red chiles, oil, vinegar, turmeric, and tamarind.

Yogi Tea

A healthy, delicious, soothing and energizing tea. A blend of cloves to benefit the nervous system, cardamom pods to aid digestion, black pepper to purify the blood, cinnamon to strengthen the bones and ginger root to energize overall. The recipe includes a small amount of black tea to create just the right balance.

Golden Milk

Especially beneficial for stiff joints and provides a source of lubrication for the entire system. Includes milk, turmeric, almond oil, and honey.

Evening Programs & Lights OutOpen

Evening Programs

Evening programs include sacred chant concerts and gong meditations. Yogi Tea is served every night after dinner in the Dining Shelter. You may also choose to visit the Bazaar, a joyful socializing space where you can connect and sha re in the community spirit of the Summer Solstice Festi val while perusing a wide variety of products and healing treatments inspired by our yogic lifestyle.

Lights Out & Camp Quiet

To support the opportunity of experiencing group Sadha na starting at 3:40 am, all evening programs, including the Bazaar, end by 9:30 pm. We ask you to please wind down musical social activities at 9:30 pm. Please respect everyone’s rest and be quiet in all camping areas from 9 pm on. Total camp lights out is 10:00 pm. Sweet Dreams!

Yoga & Dharma

Sikh Dharma, Gurdwara, Kundalini Yoga and Karma Yoga — the spiritual practices of Solstice.

Sikh DharmaOpen

What is Sikh Dharma?

The spiritual practice of Sikh Dharma is a path of transformation of body, mind and spirit. Founded at the start of the 16th century by the first Sikh saint, Guru Nanak, the practice of Sikh Dharma is grounded in the Oneness of all things and all people. Dharma is a life based on practices and beliefs to elevate consciousness, with an aim to avoid dogma, judgment and rigidity. You do not need to become a Sikh to enjoy the benefits of the values and virtues of Sikh Dharma. Following the Sikh Dharma way of life, which includes daily meditation, chanting the sacred mantras and scriptures, earning an honest living, sharing with others, and living a conscious and healthy lifestyle, you can live your Divinity on the Earth.

GurdwaraOpen

All are welcome to participate in the Gurdwara! It is a powerful and beneficial spiritual practice to surrender the finite self (Ego) to the Universal Infinite Self. This relationship to the Infinite can be felt deeply by being in the presence of the Guru (that which takes you from darkness to light). Gurdwara means gateway or door to the Guru and refers to a place that houses the Siri Guru Granth Sahib, which is the embodiment of all Sikh Dharma wisdom and authority. Although it is in the form of a large book with the collected writings of the Sikh Gurus and other revered saints, for Sikhs this represents the living form of their Guru. As such it holds the place of utmost importance in every Gurdwara.

Program

The Gurdwara services are a joyous mixture of Kirtan (devotional singing) and traditional Sikh prayers. Kirtan ends with the "Song of the Khalsa" and the "Anand Sahib" (The Song of Joy). After this, we pray an Ardas, a collective prayer seeking the welfare of all humanity. Following the Ardas, the Hukamnama is read — a randomly-selected inspiring selection from the Siri Guru Granth Sahib. This random selection is considered a divine message and serves as guidance for the community.

Concluding the program, Prasad (a sweet made from honey, ghee, water, and flour) is served. You are welcome to stay for as little or much of the program as you like.

Gurdwara services are open to people of all backgrounds. It is a space where all individuals, regardless of their social or cultural backgrounds, feel welcome and respected.

Attending Gurdwara

It is customary to bow your head to the floor and place an offering before the Siri Guru Granth Sahib, but not required. Please remember to:

  • Cover your head
  • Remove your shoes
  • Wash your hands and feet
  • Refrain from bringing outside food
  • Keep all shabad sheets and Nitnems off the floor
  • Keep the bottoms of your feet away from the Siri Guru Granth Sahib

Kirtan Darbar

A Kirtan Darbar is a special gathering in the Sikh tradition that celebrates the devotional singing of hymns and praises of the Divine. During a Ransabhai, musicians and singers lead the congregation in the performance of Kirtan, the devotional singing of hymns from the Guru Granth Sahib, the central scripture of Sikhism. It is an immersive musical experience that fosters a deep connection with spirituality and creates an atmosphere of joy, devotion, and unity.

Sehaj Path

A Sehaj Path is a leisurely, continuous reading of the Siri Guru Granth Sahib, where the pace and time frame of recitation is up to the reader and sangat. Anyone can come and read from the Guru. There will be a sign up sheet in the Gurdwara for anyone who would wish to take part.

The start of the sehaj path begins with an Ardas to ask for blessings for the days ahead. The Bhog will be to read the last few pages of the Siri Guru Granth Sahib, including Salok Mehla 9 and Raag Mala. This will be followed by Aarti written by Guru Nanak Dev Ji — a poetic expression that describes the entire universe as performing Aarti for the Creator, sung in celebration of the Divine and the completion of the reading.

Kundalini YogaOpen

Known for its transformative benefits, the practice of Kundalini Yoga builds physical strength and stamina and enhances cognitive function, emotional fitness, and spiritual connection. Many people describe the experience as exhilarating, euphoric, and powerful.

In this practice, the primary focus is on the movement and transformation of energy. There is no one practice or series. Instead, the practice focuses on kriyas — each a specific sequence of yogic techniques and meditations to create a specific result in consciousness. This could be something very concrete (like better digestion) or something more etheric (like an open heart).

Kriya Techniques

Each kriya comes with precise instructions and usually includes:

  • Asana: body postures
  • Mudras: hand positions
  • Pranayama: breathwork
  • Mantras: intentional, repeated sounds
  • Bandhas: constriction of particular area of the body
  • Drishti: directing the gaze of the eyes
  • Shivasana: relaxation at the end of practice

Key Effects

Kundalini Yoga is known to assist change and self-limiting habits:

  • A transformational system designed to release blocks to the reservoirs of untapped energy within us
  • Balances the glandular system and revitalizes the nervous systems
  • Builds, clears, and balances the subtle systems of the nadis (energy channels) and the chakras
  • Includes hydrotherapy and breathing practices for optimal health and functioning

When energy moves freely through the chakras, it stimulates the mental, physical, and spiritual health of the being. There is a clarity that arises that combines perception, thought, and intuition.

Karma YogaOpen

Seva is a universal value of many yoga traditions — service done for others and for the community. These tools of Kundalini Yoga and meditation are meant to bring us to Shuniya and to a transcendent experience of serving others. There are 22 forms of Yoga, and Karma Yoga is one of these paths. The practice of Karma Yoga as a Kundalini Yogi develops grace and humility so that we can be both radiant and humble.

Karma Yoga is a main part of the Solstice experience, just as much as the practice of Morning Sadhana or daily Kundalini Yoga classes.

Everyone you meet here serves as either Full-time staff, Service Exchange yogis who work 4–6 hours/day, or Karma Yogis who work 1 hour/day. Camp runs on the combined effort of all the people here. From chopping vegetables to cleaning toilets, your participation sets the intention and energy of manifesting a joyous and fulfilling Solstice for all. The energy of giving elevates our consciousness as we embrace the Aquarian spirit side-by-side with our fellow yogis.

Karma Yoga and Service Exchange Team Gatherings

Every Karma Yoga or Service Area Team will gather daily in the morning for an hour every day of camp. During this time you will practice a daily camp meditation, check in on a personal level about your solstice experience, and hear important information and announcements from your team leader/facilitator. Your Service Area Team is like your small circle of connection during the event. For many people their karma yoga teams are so important as a connecting circle of inclusion and sharing an experience of service together.

We ask all Solstice attendees to participate in at least 2 hours of Karma Yoga each day. Your team will hold the space for you to practice seva (selfless service), connecting with souls sharing the same goal.

We will have a Karma Yoga ACTION time in the evening, to focus everybody in the service of what needs to be done.

White Tantric Yoga®Open

Sat Nam. Welcome to White Tantric Yoga® at Summer Solstice. We are glad that you are here. In order to enhance your experience, please respect the environment and energy field as a sacred space and honor the following:

  • Photos and video recordings are not allowed. This means during the kriyas, breaks and during warm-ups, and includes 'selfies', photos of facilitators and photos of participants in lines. Photos are allowed outside of the room.
  • Cell phones must be turned off. If you are a doctor or expecting an emergency call you can check your phone during the breaks. Vibrating phones disturb others' meditation.
  • Please refrain from using any aromatherapy as many participants are allergic.

The facilitator is always available for conversation and questions.

Following are the mantras and songs that are in the video today. Please familiarize yourself with them as soon as possible which will allow greater focus during the meditations. The ones that are to be chanted or sung aloud are indicated with a "*".

Organizer & Head Monitor GuidelinesOpen
  1. 1A White Tantric Yoga Head Monitor must have monitored a WTY workshop previously.
  2. 2You are the communicator between the Facilitator and the Monitor Team.
  3. 3Wear white clothing.
  4. 4Wear a blue arm band, provided by Organizer to demonstrate your status as a Monitor.
  5. 5Attend both required Monitor pre-event meetings: one Zoom with the Organizer and one with the Facilitator on the event morning. A Zoom with new participants is optional but may be helpful to join.
  6. 6There is no judgement about gender when seating. A polarity is created with two participants sitting across from each other. (However, if a woman and man are partners, the man sits stage left and the woman sits stage right.)
  7. 7Do not replace participants in the lines except in emergency situations. Leave this to the monitors.
  8. 8Stand, observe and monitor the participants and the Monitor Team.

Before WTY

  1. 1Before the event, conduct a morning briefing with Monitors.
  2. 2Participate in the Monitor meeting with the Facilitator.
  3. 3Distribute blue armbands to all Monitors.
  4. 4Organizer to assign Monitors to specific roles:
  • Parking Lot / Venue Entry Door: Directing people to the Venue entrance from the parking lot and to the Room from the Venue Entrance.
  • Room Entry Door: Check wristbands, head covering, white clothing/head coverings only and bag size. If bags are too large, direct participants to the bag storage area.
  • Inside Room: Partner check, head covering, bags in storage area (as needed).
  • Inside Roles: Hand out mantra sheets, direct people to find partners if needed, guide seating to fill lines and fill gaps, check aisles are clear and lines are straight.
  • Break Bells: Assign two Monitors to set a timer at the start of each break and bring people back into the room with ringing of bells 5 minutes before the break ends.
  • Security: Monitor assigned all day to be outside or just inside the door for security of the room. Rotate this position.

During WTY

  1. 1Lead and Support: Guide and oversee all daily Monitor positions; ensure attentiveness and proper conduct throughout. If you notice a monitor spaced out, guide them to refresh or ground.
  2. 2Read the Room: Look out for, anticipate any issues and bring them to the attention of the Organizer or Facilitator.
  3. 3Facilitator Support: Head Monitor at the front maintains communication with the Facilitator.
  4. 4Head Monitor to support the Organizer with lunch logistics.
  5. 5Breaks & Rotation: Arrange Monitor shifts for breaks once meditation begins. Establish a schedule for Monitors to take turns standing and sitting. Monitors shouldn't be sitting or standing all day.
  6. 6Attendance Reporting: Conduct head counts, provide totals to the Facilitator, and maintain a record. Complete a count at the start of the day and after lunch. Organizer to email the participant count to H&HS CEO and DOO during the afternoon of the event.
  7. 7Lights and Temperature Control: Know where light switches are and how they operate. Know where temperature controls are. Facilitator manages these — please wait for her direction.
  8. 8Microphone Policy: Only the Facilitator uses the microphone during the course.
  • No one, including Head Monitors and Organizer, may use the microphone during breaks or lunch.
  • If announcements — lunch, emergencies — are needed, notify the Facilitator to make them.
  • After the course is complete (after Long Time Sun), the microphone may be used by the Organizer or Head Monitor.
  1. 9Observers are not allowed in the course.
  • Anyone not participating must remain at least 9 feet away from the WTY field and outside the room, unless given permission by the Facilitator or Organizer. Everyone inside the room must cover their head.
  1. 10No Meditating, Chanting, or Talking — often the head monitor and organizer forget to whisper when they are in need of communicating with each other.
  2. 11ALL issues or problems with any participants whatsoever (e.g. behavioral or not following policies; no photos, etc.) alert the organizer and the Facilitator. Please refrain from dealing with the participants directly.
  3. 12For outdoor venues or venues with doors open: Make sure that no open food is brought into the room.
  4. 13The Head Monitor should also be thoroughly familiar with all the points on the Monitor Guidelines sheet and well-versed in supporting their application throughout the course.

The Head Monitor is a leader and an example of grace, clarity and calm presence. With patience, attentiveness and quiet strength you help manage the monitor team alongside the Organizer, setting the tone for how the monitors serve the participants throughout the course and helping to sustain the sacred field of White Tantric Yoga.

With deep gratitude for your service, may you have a beautiful & inspiring day! Sat Nam.

Monitor GuidelinesOpen
  1. 1A White Tantric Yoga Monitor must have participated in a WTY workshop previously.
  2. 2Wear white clothing.
  3. 3Wear a blue armband, provided by the Organizer or Head Monitor, to demonstrate your status as a Monitor.
  4. 4There is no judgment about gender when seating. A polarity is created with two participants sitting across from each other. (However, if a woman and man are partners, the man sits stage left and the woman sits stage right.)

Before WTY Begins

  1. 1Help participants find partners
  2. 2Help seat them in rows
  3. 3Be sure chairs and lines are distributed evenly, so that some lines aren't longer than others.
  4. 4Set the lines so that there are no empty spaces (gaps in the line)
  5. 5Be sure each participant has a white head covering that completely covers their crown to almost the bottom of the back of the head around the hairline.
  6. 6Clear aisles, be sure personal belongings and shoes are stored in the designated area.
  7. 7Hand out Mantra Sheets to all participants. Go up and down the aisles.
  8. 8Each Monitor shall have a primary job (items 1-7 above) and a station — Entry Door, Inside the Room, Parking Lot/Venue Entrance — organized by the Head Monitor and the Organizer.
  9. 9Meet with the Head Monitor and the Facilitator at 8:45 a.m.

Once WTY Begins

  1. 1Pay attention to the description of the exercise by the Facilitator.
  2. 2Monitors are not to do the demonstration during the Facilitator's talk or during the video, as oftentimes they confuse people and distract them from hearing the instructions.
  3. 3Pay attention to the video showing the kriya.

For the First 5 Minutes of Each Meditation

  1. 1Walk up and down the lines, demonstrating the mudra, making sure people are doing the kriya correctly.
  2. 2If you don't understand the mudra or kriya, get clarification from the Head Monitor or Facilitator.
  3. 3Try to communicate corrections non-verbally; talking can be very distracting. Whisper as quietly as possible and DO NOT TOUCH THEM. If a person continuously does not hold their concentration, let them be. Please do not correct them a second time.
  4. 4If correcting a participant's mudra and their eyes are closed, whisper as quietly as possible and do not touch them.

During WTY

  1. 1Stay alert, keep your attention on participants. Be vigilant. Watch out for people struggling. You are an extension of the facilitator's eyes and ears.
  2. 2If a person is slumped over or having a difficult time: approach them verbally first — do not touch them without permission, whisper as quietly as possible. Offer them water immediately. If crying, also bring tissue.
  3. 3Your role is to be a support, not an authority. Minimum there is one monitor (ideally 2) always standing to observe. Organize standing, sitting schedule and breaks with the Head Monitor.
  4. 4If a participant raises their hand, GO DIRECTLY TO THEM. RUN if the participant LEAVES THEIR SPACE OR IS IN AN EMERGENCY.
  • Make sure the participant DOES NOT CROSS THE LINES.
  • Make sure you don't cross lines when filling in for participants.
  • Be silent when filling in. If you must communicate, whisper as quietly as possible.
  • SIT DOWN STRAIGHT AWAY — do not get distracted. Filling the spot is urgent and needs to be done ASAP.
  • If someone leaves their spot before they are relieved by a Monitor, RUN TO FILL THE SPOT.
  1. 5While monitoring the room, DO NOT MEDITATE, STAND IN THE INDICATED MUDRA OR POSTURE, OR CHANT.
  2. 6Do not have conversations with other Monitors.
  3. 7If you need a break, notify the Head Monitor.
  4. 8Any issue or problem with any participant should be directed to the Organizer or the Facilitator. Please refrain from dealing with the participants directly.
  5. 9For back-to-back meditations for participants in chairs: assist them to turn their chair backs to the back of the room (if they can safely sit that way) so their spines touch.
  6. 10For outdoor venues or venues with doors open: make sure that no open food is brought into the room.

Breaks

  1. 1Get participants back into the room ON TIME. Ring Bells 5 min before the break is over.
  2. 2Make sure LINES ARE STRAIGHT AFTER EVERY BREAK (knees to the line).
  3. 3Headcovers CHECKED to ensure they still cover the entire head.

Policies and Energetics

  1. 1No photographs, videos, or phone calls in the room — even during breaks. If a participant is not complying, tell the Organizer. Use hand signals to convey the message.
  2. 2No one to use the microphone (except the Facilitator) throughout the entirety of the course.
  3. 3As a monitor, you are immersed in the Tantric field, receiving its benefits while offering yourself in service. Through your awareness and sensitivity, participants feel safe and supported. The more you rest in relaxed presence, the more they will naturally reflect that state. Your quiet grace holds the space with strength and stillness — this is your meditation.

Your seva is to stay calm, smiling, relaxed, and steady in every moment you serve.

With deep gratitude for your presence. May your day be uplifting, beautiful, and inspiring! Sat Nam

Comments
When nothing in your life works; if all shelter, hope and joy are gone; when your friends and enemies have left, do this meditation.
“It has six sounds, don’t take it as a mantra, these are six unchangeable sounds. What surrounds you is six: the four directions and up and down. Meditate on these six in this way and they will cover you. It is not an obligation; it is a directive.” *Chii-a is the Gurmukhi word for six. In this meditation there are six unchangeable sounds which affect the six directions. **Thank you to Serpentine Yoga for the use of their online graphics to illustrate this meditation.
Keep Up QuoteOpen

We want to sing together. We want to face each others’ difficulties. We want to help each other. We want to love each other. We want to understand each other. We want to practice the mantra, Keep Up.” Yogi Bhajan, June 18, 1973
